Anand Milind: Jungle Love (1990)

Jungle Love

It's funny how this album used to (probably still does) turn up on eBay at exorbitant 3-digit buy-it-now prices. I paid $10 for my copy. It's funny how they tended to be accompanied by descriptions of the "superhot megasexy NUDE WOMAN on cover" sort. Maybe someone should take these eager (evidently very young and innocent) sellers aside and explain to them a thing or two. It's also funny how I honestly didn't expect the album to be any good. (Now why did I buy it?) For to be fair, it's really not bad.

'Jungle Love' [review] can hardly be called a classic, but compared to Bollywood soundtracks I've heard from the same era (a few of which have been posted here), including ones by more famous music directors, it holds up pretty well. Tracks such as the supremely cheesy 'He Man O My He Man' (how can anyone not be intrigued?), the quite lovely 'Laila Ne Kaha Jo Majnu Se', and 'Mera Mehboob Aayega' with it's wild percussion and dramatic orchestral breaks, do kind of work for me. Brothers Anand and Milind Shrivastav have pedigree though; they're the sons of Chitragupta.

I couldn't find any song clips from this on YouTube or elsewhere, but here's a taster from the movie. It looks deep.

Track listing:
1. Falguni Singh: He Man O My He Man
2. Anuradha Paudwal: Hum To The Anjaane
3. Anuradha Paudwal: Koyaliya Gati Hai, Payaliya Chhankati Hai
4. Anuradha Paudwal & Manhar Udhas: Laila Ne Kaha Jo Majnu Se
5. Sadhna Sargam & Chorus: Mera Mehboob Aayega

  3. Thanks PC.

The Steve Miller Band with had a hit with a song called "Jungle Love" in 1977. Obviously, no connection. :)
